Counselling and Psychotherapy

Feel like you’ve lost control? Undergoing a big change? Need to talk to a professional?

Newtown Counselling can help you

I'm pleased to offer a confidential, professional and warm space for you to unpack whatever's on your mind. Anxiety, depression, loss and trauma are some of the main areas I have experience of working with people who've found counselling and psychotherapy useful.

Clients I’ve worked with tell me they've also found therapy helpful if they’re experiencing unexpected mood swings, their sleeping patterns are off, or if they're looking for an alternative to drugs or alcohol to cope with issues in their lives.

Why choose me?

As a qualified and accredited therapist, I'm continually refreshing my professional skills and knowledge. While listening to clients I apply the Person Centred therapeutic conditions of empathy, acceptance and unconditional positive regard. I also use Psychodynamic therapeutic interventions to understand the roots and formation of an individuals psychological processes. I’ve over 4000 hours of dedicated experience working with clients.

What is the outcome of working with me?

I've worked with clients who've found it useful to use some of our sessions to process events from their past or present, distinguish helpful and unhelpful themes and patterns in their lives, to increase their self awareness, begin to feel as well as think, develop their capacity to reflect and to regulate their emotions.

Many of my clients have felt a change within the first 6 to 12 sessions and some choose to commit to mid, longer term or open ended therapy.

Clients tell me it can be valuable to talk about their problems with close friends and family members, however sometimes the people around them just aren’t able to provide the help they need.

As a reliable and dedicated therapist I’ll listen to you and help you to understand yourself better, so you can make positive changes in your life.

I welcome you to explore my website and get in touch if you’d like to set up an initial session.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do sessions cost and what’s the duration?

An initial session costs £65 and lasts 50 minutes. This gives us a chance to consider if more sessions together would be helpful.

1:1 in person, online and telephone sessions cost £65 (50 minutes) and are available for however long we both feel they are useful.

Fees are payable by bank transfer, cash or PayPal, due by the end of each day’s session. Cancellations made within 48 hours of a session are charged at full fee unless agreed otherwise. Advance cancellation and re-scheduling is possible, subject to availability.

Do you offer concessionary rates?

Over the years I've volunteered and worked for charities and government funded counselling organisations. Sessions have been free or low cost, both for myself and for clients.

I understand the importance of high quality counselling and psychotherapy to people on a low or no income.

I’m not offering concession rate sessions in my private practice at the moment. I’d suggest searching for low cost counselling in your area.
